It is a treatment of the nerves, blood vessels, and dental pulp that are located inside the tooth after these have become swollen or infected, or have given rise to pain and facial inflammation.
This treatment consists of first eliminating the pulp, subsequently disinfecting the area and finally placing an inert filling material that is compatible with the patient’s body.
Endondontic treatment, also called a root canal, is a procedure used often in dentistry to salvage the damaged or infected part of a tooth.
This procedure allows the patient to preserve the functionality and esthetic appearance of their mouth, avoiding the extraction of the tooth.
Given that we are working with nerves, in the majority of cases an anesthetic is administered so that the patient feels comfortable during treatment. There are some rare cases that make the treatment uncomfortable or painful, due to the difficulty or severity of the infection. However, in these cases treatment is accompanied by antibiotic therapy and painkillers.
The procedure can be performed in a single appointment, if the damage to the dental pulp is only at its initial stages. Two to three appointments can resolve more severe cases.
50% of a treatment´s success is due to the recovery.
Selecting a destination with a climate favorable to healing and recovery processes during dental treatments is key to a successful result. As you can imagine, climates that are too hot for example the beach are unfavorable to healing as they provoke more and longer-lasting swelling, and they oblige the the patients to stay in their rooms, it is not recommended to go out in order to avoid being exposed to the sun and high temperatures.
Our clinic is located in a valley surrounded by mountains and evergreen forests, which allows us to enjoy an average temperature of 15 Celsius degrees (59 Fahrenheit), ideal for good healing processes. Being the most attractive colonial city in Mexico, full of pedestrian zones, magical hidden corners and cobbled streets, San Cristóbal de las Casas invites you to go on tours and walks not only in the city but also in the surroundings during the days of your dental treatment. The food on offer is varied and delicious, and the concentration of cafes, design stores and proposals that mix modern and traditional will complete your journey and experience.
With an optimal climate for dental treatments.
Placing a dental implant is a procedure that is easier in a cool climate than in a warm one.
Heat can produce inflammation, which slows healing, and can make you, feel less comfortable in a warmer climate than you would be in a colder one.
