An endodontic treatment, or root canal, is a treatment of the nerves, blood vessels, and dental pulp that are located inside the tooth after these have become swollen or infected, or have given rise to pain and facial inflammation.  This treatment consists of first eliminating the pulp, subsequently disinfecting the area and finally placing an inert filling material that is compatible with the patient’s body.
